About Centinela Cafe
Over three decades of neighborhood hospitality, sizzling griddles, and authentic Mexican American comfort food in West Los Angeles.
A Long-Standing Westside Pillar
Centinela Cafe first opened its doors in 1993 on South Centinela Avenue, established to provide hardworking residents and families with generous, affordable, and honest comfort food.
Municipal business registration records with the City of Los Angeles confirm the diner's active presence dating back to 1993–1994. While many surrounding commercial strips have transformed through waves of development, Centinela Cafe has proudly preserved its classic diner counter atmosphere, cozy booth seating, and welcoming, friendly staff.
What makes Centinela Cafe unique is its harmonious celebration of two culinary worlds. On one half of the menu, you find classic American diner heritage: thick-cut bacon, sizzling breakfast sausage, buttermilk hotcakes stacked high with butter, triple-decker club sandwiches, and flame-broiled charburgers. On the other half, you experience authentic Mexican homestyle cooking: slow-simmered ranchero sauces, shredded machaca with eggs, crispy taquitos, and restorative weekend menudo.

Our Culinary Principles
Scratch Griddle Cooking
We make dishes to order on seasoned flat-tops and flame broilers. Tortillas are griddled warm, potatoes are crisped to perfection, and eggs are cooked exactly to your liking.
Authentic Mexican Roots
Our salsas, beans, and marinades follow traditional homestyle recipes handed down through generations. Nothing comes from artificial powders or industrial packets.
Neighborhood Hospitality
Whether you visit every weekday morning for drip coffee or drop in with your family for weekend menudo, you are greeted with warm, unpretentious hospitality.
